Votes are tallied! The Avenue changes its name

RHE – “Promenade on the Peninsula” is the new name community members selected for the The Avenue of the Peninsula shopping center in Rolling Hills Estates. On Feb. 2 shoppers, friends and neighbors from across the Peninsula were invited to vote for the new name as part of the center's “We Love Your Opinion” campaign. Promenade on the Peninsula captured nearly 50 percent of the community’s votes, making it the hands-down winner over the four other choices. Three polling options were available for voting- the shopping center's Web site (www.shopattheavenue.com), the Management Office Community Bulletin Board, and at events, including “Grease is the Word” and “Camp Adventure”.
“Stoltz Management is pleased the people of the Peninsula participated in renaming their shopping mall,” said Elizabeth Griggs, general manager. “We believe the public has made a great choice. The word ‘Promenade’ accurately reflects the nature of this charming space that, for years, has been an inviting place for patrons to stroll its beautiful grounds. Every morning we see people exercising on the property - walking, some with their dogs - and practicing Tai Chi. And the word ‘Peninsula’ helps people know where the center is located.”
“Besides being a shopping mall that serves the surrounding community, it is a gathering place, and Promenade on the Peninsula aptly characterizes, the property’s qualities.”
To celebrate the new name, Promenade on the Peninsula is hosting several community events, including the March 15 unveiling of the logo that will define the Promenade's new identity. The event will include family activities, entertainment, center-wide sales, samples and promotions, and Radio Disney promoting “Baby Celebration LA,” an event that will take place April 12 and 13 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
Promenade on the Peninsula includes a desirable collection of brand name retailers and one-of-a-kind boutiques, restaurants and entertainment that allow the residents from the Peninsula's four cities and neighboring cities to shop locally in a warm and welcoming outdoor lifestyle center. The new name matches those qualities and helps to ensure the center meets the community’s needs.
Promenade on the Peninsula is a beautifully appointed Spanish-style, three-level, open-air center, with more than 50 name brand and boutique specialty stores and restaurants, including Borders Books & Music, Equinox Fitness Club & Spa, The Ice Chalet skating rink and a state-of-the-art, 13-screen Regal Cinemas Theater. The 374,000-square-foot, pedestrian-friendly center invites shoppers to stroll its grounds, complete with colorfully-tiled stairways, a pop up fountain and beautiful sky views. Promenade on the Peninsula is located on Silver Spur Road between Hawthorne and Crenshaw boulevards.
Promenade on the Peninsula is owned by Stoltz Real Estate Partners, headquartered in Philadelphia, Pa. Stoltz owns, leases and manages a diverse national portfolio that includes retail, mixed-use, office, flex, residential and industrial real estate - the majority of which is owned in joint venture with institutional partners. The Stoltz portfolio totals more than 72 properties with 11 million square feet.
