'Beautiful development'

To the Editor:
It was good to be at the Rolling Hills Estates Planning Commission hearing concerning the new redevelopment of our central village area. The project presented is the Mediterranean Village on Deep Valley Drive. It is beautiful. This is just what the area needs.
It is disingenuous to suggest that the environmental study doesn’t take into account the cumulative effects of approved and future projects. This is exactly what the studies do, and still the professional reports conclude that on this project there are no negative impacts on air quality, parking and traffic. This is significant; we haven’t seen this before.
It was disturbing to listen to one self-proclaimed "expert" suggesting the Hill is only for blond, blue-eyed people over 44, and others just don't fit in. Perhaps she is unaware that the development process already requires the environmental review to be done - and it has; and the codes and laws be followed - as they have. One wonders what is her motivation, to make a name for herself? Well, she has, but not based on fact but on fears and falsehoods.
This project will help to start to restore our area back to a vibrant community; we've waited a long time. Now is the time to move ahead so that in a few years we will see a revitalized street for all to enjoy.
